Every eligible Malaysian now gets 200 litres of subsidised fuel a month — RON 95 at RM 1.99/litre and diesel at RM 2.10/litre. The obvious question: how do you know how many litres you have left? This guide lists every official way to check your remaining BUDI quota — via the portal, apps, or right at the petrol station.
What Is the 200-Litre BUDI Quota?
Since April 2026, every individual eligible under BUDI 95 receives an allocation of 200 litres a month at the subsidised price. Eligibility is based on your MyKad and a valid JPJ driving licence — not your income level. From 1 July 2026, the same quota also covers BUDI Diesel: subsidised RON 95 and subsidised diesel purchases are now drawn from one shared balance.
Why 200 Litres a Month?
The 200-litre cap was set in April 2026 (down from 300 litres). According to the Finance Ministry, it is more than enough for most drivers:
Government data shows the 200-litre cap is sufficient for roughly 90% of BUDI95 users — average monthly consumption sits at only around 100 litres.
The quota resets to 200 litres every month. Unused litres do not carry over to the next month, so there is no benefit in “saving up” quota.
How to Check Your Remaining Quota
Method 1: The Budi Madani portal (most complete). The official online check is at budimadani.gov.my:
- Go to the budimadani.gov.my portal and open the checking section.
- Enter your MyKad details.
- The system displays your eligibility status and this month's remaining quota.
- According to reports, you can also view your list of subsidised transactions — tap any transaction for the time, date and location.
Method 2: Fuel apps. The Setel app shows your monthly eligible balance — tap the “RON95 @ RM1.99” icon on the home screen. CaltexGO and TNG eWallet also offer balance checks, and the figure updates automatically after every fill-up.
Method 3: At the station. After MyKad verification, your receipt shows the litres charged at the subsidised price. According to reports, some counters and terminals also display your remaining quota during verification.
What Counts Against the Quota?
Since 1 July 2026, every litre of RON 95 at RM 1.99 and every litre of diesel at RM 2.10 is deducted from the same 200-litre balance. Example: buy 150 litres of RON 95 and 50 litres of diesel in the same month — your quota is used up.
What does not touch your quota: RON 97, and any petrol or diesel bought at the full market price. Commercial vehicles run on separate schemes — SKPS for commercial RON 95 and SKDS for fleet diesel — and do not consume your individual quota.
What Happens When the Quota Runs Out?
There is no penalty — you simply pay the floating market price for the next litres. This week that means RM 3.82/litre for RON 95 and RM 4.62/litre for diesel, and these prices change weekly. The gap is substantial: RM 1.83/litre for RON 95 and RM 2.52/litre for diesel. Your balance returns to 200 litres the following month.
Extra 100 Litres for Diesel Pick-ups & SUVs
Owners of diesel pick-up trucks and SUVs who genuinely need more — long-distance travel or interior areas, for instance — can apply for an extra 100 litres via budimadani.gov.my or, according to reports, at the nearest LHDN office. It is granted only after approval.
For RON 95, there is no quota top-up application — the Finance Ministry has confirmed that claims of such an application are untrue.
Tips to Stretch Your 200 Litres
- Check your balance before a full tank late in the month — avoid unknowingly going over quota.
- Prioritise the fuel with the bigger gap. This week diesel saves RM 2.52/litre versus RM 1.83/litre for RON 95 — relevant for households with both a petrol and a diesel car.
- Drive efficiently: correct tyre pressure, less dead weight, and combine errands into one trip.
- Watch for odd transactions. Review your transaction list on the portal from time to time — a fill-up you never made could mean your quota is being misused.
